1.Determine the voltage

(1) Input voltage

The input voltage of the power supply is divided into ranges, 100-130V/170-264V. The determination of the input voltage depends on the local household voltage. For example, the voltage in China is about 220v, then choose the input voltage of 170-264V.

(2) Output voltage

Common power supply output voltages are 12V and 24V, which are also the conventional voltages of light strips. The voltage of the light strip should match the output voltage of the driver. If the household voltage is 220v and the lamp strip voltage is 24v, then choose 170-264V (input voltage) - 24V (output voltage).

2.Determine the power

(1) Power supply

The power of the power supply is generally 60w, 100w, 150w, 200w, 250w. Which power supply to choose requires calculating the total power of the light strip.

(2) Calculate the total power of the light strip

First, determine the power per meter of light strip (watts/meter).

Second, calculate the total power: total power = power per meter x total length of the light strip. For example, if the power of the light strip is 5 watts per meter and the length is 10 meters, the total power is 5 watts/meter .

Third, the power of the power supply should be slightly higher than the total power of the light strip. It is usually recommended to leave a 20-30% margin to ensure stability and lifespan. For example, if the total power is 50 watts, choose a drive that is at least 60 watts.

3.Other conditions

(1) Waterproof

If the drive will be installed in a high-temperature environment or in an enclosed space, choose a drive with good heat dissipation. Ratings of protection (such as IP65) are also something to consider, especially if used in wet or outdoor environments.

(2) Dimming

If you need dimming function, make sure the driver supports the dimming method you use (such as PWM dimming, 0-10V dimming, etc.). Check whether the driver has overload protection, overvoltage protection, short circuit protection and other functions to increase safety and reliability. sex.

4.Example calculation

Assume that the local voltage is 110v, the light strip voltage is 24v, the total length is 10 meters, and the power per meter is 8 watts.

First, make sure the input voltage is 110v and the output voltage is 24v.

Second, calculate the total power: 8w/meter x 10 meters = 80w.

Therefore, the drive power supply specifications selected are:

Input voltage: 110V

Output voltage: 24V

Output power: 80w or more (100w recommended)

It has overload protection, overvoltage protection, and short-circuit protection functions. Choose the appropriate protection level and heat dissipation method according to the installation environment. Through the above steps, you can choose a suitable light strip driver to ensure that it can work safely and reliably.
